Karan Ajay Mehra is an Indian television actor who is playing the Protagonist in STAR Plus's long running TV serial Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai since January 2009. Karan has done numerous ads for various banks and institutions. His last ad was the VIP ad with Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor-Hotspot mobile store and 7UP an recently he is finalised as a contestant for Nach Baliye 5.

Karan Mehra was born on September 10, 1982 in Jalandar, Punjab, India and bought up in Delhi. Karan Before acting happened to him, he is a fashion designer from National School of Fashion Technology(NIFT), Delhi and studied at Apeejay School, Noida. He has worked as a designer for four years in his hometown Noida. However, it was not all about auditions for Karan when he came to Mumbai. The actor took a detour before he finally faced the cameras.
When he came to Mumbai, he started assisting renowned directors like Rajkumar Hirani and Ram Gopal Verma and worked as an assistant in four movies. He also did a small role in the bollywood movie Saajan in which he played role of Salman Khan's college mate which is not possible at the age of 9. Last time he was seen in movie Love Story 2050 as Harman Baweja's friend. After that, he started doing modeling and that helped him a lot to enter in TV commercials.
